Indie favourites PixelJam Games, purveyors of excellent retro-themed games, are bringing their unique brand of pixel absurdity to iOS, Android, and OUYA with Potatoman Seeks The Troof.  If you missed the game when it originally arrived on PC in late 2012… well, it’s a tricky one to explain. SpookyFish Games is clearly a studio with a hankering for old-school challenge, and one that feels us modern gamers have been pampered for far too long. Enter 99 Waves to Die, an upcoming twin-stick shoot-’em-up for iOS, Android, and OUYA which promises not to hold the player’s hand; rather beating them around the face and belittling them until they beg for mercy.

As an average joe reader of a videogame website, you’ll no doubt have heard tall tales about Jimmy Five- Bellies, all-round legend and Gateshead’s hottest property. However, there’s more to this man than meets the eye. As well as being the rumbly-tumbly comedy sidekick to Paul Gascoigne, one of Britain’s most gifted and successful alcoholic wife-beaters, Five-Bellies is also an avid lover of gaming. I caught up with him outside a Greggs in Leamington Spa for a quick gaming chat.

IGM: FuturLab Announce ‘Velocity 2X’ – Gameplay Teased at Gamescom

‘Traditionally, major conferences such as Gamescom are slim pickings when it comes to indie games. However, it is heartening to see an increased focus on indies from both Sony and Microsoft this year, and indicative of their growing importance even in the eyes of the average consumer. One of the most exciting announcements for me personally was Velocity 2X, FuturLab‘s full sequel to Velocity and Velocity Ultra. 

FuturLab revealed that the game was in development for PS4 and PS Vita, and gave us two short teaser videos to tide us over until more info is released — one for story and one for gameplay. The story teaser snappily sets the scene for 2X, with series protagonist and Quarp Jet pilot Kai Tana seemingly recovering from unconsciousness in an unknown area with an all-new antagonist — the Vokh.’
